KorovsSlack

Slack experience, without Salesforce reading along.

Slack has strong team workflows and a huge integrations ecosystem — we know, plenty of our team came from there. What Slack is NOT: end-to-end encrypted. Here’s what we do differently — technically and feature-wise.

Short and honest

Three structural differences with Slack.

No true end-to-end encryption

Slack servers can decrypt every message. US authorities can access them via court order.

US jurisdiction, US servers

Salesforce sits in San Francisco. CLOUD Act and FISA apply — also to EU customers.

Translation and tasks cost extra

Live translation and tasks are Slack add-ons. In Koro they’re part of the platform.

Encryption

Who can read your messages?

The same conversation, two paths. Where does it run encrypted end to end — and where doesn’t it?

Hey 👋

The provider’s server can read along

Slack only encrypts in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Slack servers decrypt for processing — search indices, bot processing, compliance export all run on plaintext. Enterprise Key Management (EKM) moves the keys to the customer, but doesn’t change that messages flow unencrypted through Slack infrastructure.

Servers are blind

Diffie-Hellman key exchange on your device. Servers in the EU are blind: they see encrypted packets and routing info, nothing more. Search index and bots run client-side or on user-authorized devices.

Honestly speaking

When does Slack win, when does Koro?

We’re not going to talk Slack down where it doesn’t deserve it. Here’s the honest split.

If this is what you want

Stick with Slack

  • Your team already depends on a huge Slack-app ecosystem with critical workflows.
  • You need Slack Connect to external Slack workspaces of your customers / partners.
  • Compliance requirements allow non-E2E (Slack is ISO certified).
  • Slack Huddles and Canvas cover your meeting and doc needs.

If this is what you want

Switch to Koro

  • End-to-end encryption is non-negotiable — for compliance, industry or trust reasons.
  • EU jurisdiction and EU server location are hard requirements (government, healthcare, finance, public sector).
  • You want translation, tasks, customer communication and workspaces without building an add-on stack.
  • Whitelabel and API embedding are on your roadmap — and you don’t want to be pushed into enterprise contracts first.
  • You’re starting a new team / project and don’t want to be trapped in a 90-day history limit.

Slack vibe, without Salesforce reading along.
